Include:
Decisions concerning sample collection and handling
Daily instrument maintenance and quality control
Perform tests that help physicians diagnose and treat diseases,
Prepare samples for analysis, and use equipment to locate microorganisms,
Monitor tests and procedures and analyze the chemical content of fluids,
Match blood for transfusions, and test for drug levels in the blood.
Collection and interpretation of data
Maintenance of accurate records and reporting of data
Technical service matters and patient education.
Qualifications
BMLS with at least three (3) years post NYSC experience
Must be registered with the Medical Laboratory Council of Nigeria (MLCN), and
A holder of a current practicing license.
Knowledge of critical values
Communication skills are necessary for consultative interaction with other members of the health care team,
Laboratory professionals should demonstrate ethical and moral attitudes that are necessary for maintaining the confidentiality of patient information and gaining the confidence of patients, professional associates and the community.
