Job Summary
We are hiring on behalf of our client for the role of Dust & Fume Control Technician.
This position is responsible for operating and maintaining air pollution control systems such as dust collectors, scrubbers, bag filters, ESPs, ducts, and blowers used to extract fumes and dust generated from mechanical or industrial equipment.
The technician ensures these systems function efficiently to maintain a clean and compliant work environment, while supporting preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities
Operate and monitor dust and fume extraction systems during production activities.
Perform regular inspection of equipment components such as ducts, fans, filters, scrubbers, and chimneys.
Clean or replace worn-out filters, mist eliminators, nozzles, and other vital parts.
Record operating data including pressure, temperature, and airflow rates; maintain accurate system logs.
Identify and report abnormal conditions or system failures; escalate for troubleshooting and repair.
Support shutdown/start-up operations in coordination with the maintenance and production teams.
Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance activities on extraction systems.
Ensure all system emissions comply with environmental standards and support audit processes.
Adhere strictly to safety protocols and use prescribed PPE at all times.
Maintain orderliness and cleanliness around fume/dust control equipment areas.
Requirements
Education:
Trade test or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related engineering field.
Experience:
1 – 3 years of hands-on experience working with dust/fume extraction, air pollution control, or ventilation systems in manufacturing environments (e.g., steel mills, foundries, fabrication plants, chemical or cement industries).
Skills & Knowledge:
Familiarity with dust collectors, ESPs, bag filters, ductwork, and scrubber systems.
Ability to read gauges, flow meters, and understand basic control systems.
Sound knowledge of industrial safety and environmental compliance standards (e.g., CPCB/SPCB norms).
Strong attention to detail with problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
Working Conditions:
Exposure to heat, dust, fumes, noise, and mechanical equipment in an industrial environment.
May require rotational shifts, weekend, or night duty.
Strict compliance with PPE usage is mandatory.
